RDS/WIP 1.0
IMPORTANT NOTICE
These RDS-WIP & RDL-Facade facilities are only partially supported in 2012 and will be retired in a matter of months. Users are requested to plan their migration over to the JORD Endpoint, which will be supported sustainably as the PCA RDS enhanced in partnership with FIATECH. Users should also ensure their needs are reflected in the JORD Project deliverables.
What is it?
The RDS/WIP is a system for publishing definitions in ISO 15926 and related formalisms as a sort of collaboratively maintained library, using OWL/RDF and SPARQL for representing and quering the various volumes of data.
Who runs it?
The RDS/WIP is run by IDS-ADI, a joint project of POSC Caesar and FIATECH. The intention is that IDS-ADI will be responsible for raising funds and in-kind donations of time to maintain the service and invest in the technical framework.
How is it used?
The plan is that it will be usable for exploration with any regular web browser, and likewise indexing with search engines. Importantly though, it also supports Semantic Web machine level access, using the SPARQL protocol.
How to contribute?
The best approach is to join IDS/ADI through one of its parent bodies, FIATECH or POSC Caesar. Each organization has a different sphere of influence in terms of geography and industry, but they come together around ISO 15926. Choose the one that best fits your company's goals, and commit your resources to ADI or IDS. Remember your company's contributions keep this service available.
What's accessible?
The RDS/WIP system is available to the public in a browsable, searchable version. For those IDS-ADI members with access, there are additional pages for administering the service, and an ID generator for identifiers under any given base URI.
Source Code
Contributed source code is also available in a subversion repository.
What's on the agenda?
The RDS/WIP pages (as noted above) provide information on the general architecture and planning for the project. There is also a quick list of tasks and changes maintained for the more find-grained project items. Check there for the latest changes to the service (scroll to end of page).
